Snowbank

Happy New Year!

I bet when they purchased this, the color was described as “maize” or “gold”, but it sure looks like babyshit brown to me. How would you even tell if the fucker was clean??

Another view.

Festive holiday toilet

December 1, 2008 in Madison, WI. I’m not sure they were really going for a holiday theme, the snow and color scheme just makes it so festive!

Same day, about a block away – regular ol’ trash toilet.

Animal rescue toilets

We hit the mother lode – a local animal rescue was refurbishing, and all their toilets ended up out by the trash. Taken 10/15/08 in Madison, WI.

California Toilets

In September, we made a trip to California & Oregon. We found two random toilets while driving. They were being used as yard decor rather than having been left out for the trash, but hey, toilets is toilets.

Found this one on a highway at a private residence in Oregon. Taken 9/5/08.

Wide view.

Closeup.

Also in Oregon, way out in a field across from a tavern. Taken 9/8/08.

Wide-angle.

A colorful pair

Two from the same house. Taken 8/9/08 in Madison, WI. What a color scheme this place must have had!

The ones that started it all

So, how it happened, is, in the space of a single day we found four toilets on the curb, all within a four block radius of our house in Madison, WI. Pictures of the first two are lost, but the pics were all taken 6/1/08.

Look at that color!

A week later, we found two more. Both taken 6/9/08.

Another lovely color scheme.

And a week later: Taken 6/15/08.

The sheer absurdity of multiple toilets appearing every week, like mushrooms after a storm, is what first spurred the development of this project.
